Most of us can only dream of getting paid to travel the world –now, a so-called ‘school of travel’ has been launched by three leaders in the travel industry, which is said to reveal the secrets of making money while you holiday. Through a combination of travel writing, blogging, Instagram and photography, The Travel Bootcamp guarantees to teach anyone how to get paid to travel the World. The offline event–which takes place over a long weekend–is the brainchild of three industry leaders: go magazine editor Georgia Rickard, Australia’s first professional Instagrammer Lauren Bath, and World’s top 10 female travel blogger Liz Carlson.
The trio asserts that “anyone” can make a living out of their travels. “ The Bootcamp offers a 360-degree view of the opportunities available to travellers,” states Bootcamp co-founder, Georgia Rickard.
“Most of us have a yearning inside to be more creative, and to explore the world –this event shows you exactly how to do it. ”Unusually, The Travel Bootcamp’s curriculum fuses the principles of traditional and new media, encompassing journalism, content marketing, and influencing for a holistic overview of the travel media industry.“It is unique; unlike anything else on the market,” Rickard says.
With more than 600 success stories from previous Travel Bootcamp students, the results are undeniable. Travel writer Danielle Norton, from Melbourne, is one such case. Since attending the Travel Bootcamp, the former English teacher has transitioned into full-time journalism.
“I didn’t have any experience writing for media,” she says. “Since attending The Travel Bootcamp, I’ve written for major newspapers, online travel sites and in-flight magazines, and I’ve been paid to go on assignment to the Solomon Islands”.
Similarly, travel bloggers Tracy and Rob Morris –who, along with their children, are known as The Blonde Nomads –have successfully leapt a 9 to 5 life into travelling full-time.
“We’re living the dream now,” Rob Morris says. “We are backed by sponsorships from brands, work on influencer campaigns, contribute articles to well-known publications and have even been featured on TV.”Other significant Bootcamp success stories include
Queensland tourism ambassadors Mark Fitzpatrick of @_markfitz and Jesse Lindeman of @Photobohemian, influencers Georgie Mann of @georgie.mann.photos and Jules Ingall of @JulesIngall, and travel writers Megan Blandford and Emma Pegrum.
The Travel Bootcamp’s was last held in Queenstown, New Zealand in October 2019. Run only once per year.
